A game developer speaks
“I definitely want to be a part of VR, but I will not work with Facebook. Their motives are too unclear and shifting, and they haven’t historically been a stable platform. There’s nothing about their history that makes me trust them, and that makes them seem creepy to me.”
Markus “notch” Persson, creator of Minecraft, commenting on Facebook’s purchase of Oculus VR
Wow. I’m still digesting this news, and the outpouring of gamedev rage. If nothing else, this makes it crystal clear that Facebook has a massive PR problem with gamedevs, and anyone else who needs a stable platform to develop on.

I wonder if it is because people fear that all Facebook / Oculus will now want are VR Farmvilles. Facebook is all about collecting data and selling advertising with that data. If you are in a frictionless virtual environment that has simple but adiction driving games – they can pump advertising at you constantly – it would literally be all around you.
